At the end of 2016, I'd made a New Year's Resolution to focus on colour. It was something I'd always neglected and as a result, my work was very muted. I mean, it was in keeping with the hipster aesthetic I was desperately trying to involve myself with, but it wasn't very original or eye grabbing.
I started working with gels with Merrin on the 31st of December 2016 and quickly learned it wasn't a simple process. Thanks to people like Jake Hicks and Julia Kuzmenko McKim and their online guides, I soon found the right path. It wasn't an unachievable goal to get to where I wanted to be, thankfully. Below you'll see some of the hits of the year.
Thanks to John in Edge Photo Studios for the help throughout the year, as well as all the models and bands that allowed me to throw coloured light at them. The year wasn't entirely colourified and there was some festival portraits and live shots too. Thanks to Goldenplec.com for getting me the photo passes throughout the year too as well as putting me in contact with some great musicians.
2018 will be spent focusing on less technical stuff - documenting musicians and trying to tell a story through an image; but for the time being enjoy these blistering bright, spectacular images from the past twelve months.
